Othello's handkerchief, which was a family heirloom, was inconveniently placed in the hands of Iago. The mastermind that he is gave the prized possession to Cassio (the ladies man). Out of all the options Iago had, this was the best. It easily placed doubt in Othello's mind and planted the seed of jealousy. "Jealousy doth mock the meat it feeds on." Othello's point of no return? I think so.

I agree. Othello may have been able to forgive Desdemona and Cassio if only Iago was exposed for the villain he is. I feel bad for Othello.
